My Little Helper

Gemma always thinks it’s rather fun to help me make the bed.  Lots of opportunities to prance around and get in the way!  First she had to make sure that I had put the clean sheets on properly.  And then fluff up the duvet and lay it on top, after I had removed the cat, of course.

Then it was time to put the quilt back on the bed – she likes to flatten out underneath while I lay it on top of her for a while, then she pops out, a bit like playing peek-a-boo.

There, all done, was I a big help?

Yesterday, Saturday,  we went to the Health Centre to receive our flu jabs.  These had just come in, and we had phoned in the off chance to make an appointment for later in the week, and were invited to call in straight away.  We didn’t realise that they were doing Saturday Clinics for the vaccinations, so were really fortunate to get in so early.

Today, Sunday, we awoke to rain, quite a heavy downpour.  So it’s been a rather “slow cooking” kind of day, with a beef bolar roast in the crockpot for tonight.  And soup for lunch, just because it’s wet, although it’s not really cold.  I made broccoli and cheese soup, cooked in the microwave, and rather tasty.

Like everywhere, things are changing in our world. This weekend we were expecting to attend our monthly Caravan Club Rally.  This was cancelled, and those scheduled in the near future.  The advice is:  “keep calm, stay safe and stay at home”.  The directives from our Government are that over 70s (that’s us), because many in this age group have underlying health issues, should be limiting movement outside their homes.  Also all New Zealanders should be limiting their travel throughout the country because every unnecessary movement gives Covis 9 a chance to spread.  So there should be more time for this.

Time for a cuddle

Gemma doesn't understand about this virus, but is always happy for more attention, and cuddles.  The various clubs and groups we attend have been put on hold, and the Levin Community Health Shuttle has just advised that all their volunteer drivers who are over 70 will be stood down for the foreseeable future to protect their health.  Robin usually has a Tuesday afternoon shift driving the shuttle each week. We are not confined to the house, can venture outside, or go for drives, or quick trips to collect groceries.  Just as long as we keep away from close contact with others.  It is terrifying how quickly the number of confirmed cases in the country have risen from our first case, to over 60 now in a matter of a few weeks.  But we will keep calm, and carry on.  Guess there will be plenty of time for sewing, cooking, and spending time together.  I’m pleased to say that we get on well together!

Here, we have friends who will do our groceries, pharmacy pick ups, rubbish to the transfer station, and any trips out will be to a VERY isolated area, taking our own food and hot coffee. Scary, but here in NZ we are in a far better position to keep tourists out. Stay home, stay safe, and every day I ask Boris and Moxy if they are virus free. Today, Boris practised the _ Self-Isolation" sitting on a chair outside all by himself . Clever boy.

A beautiful cat Jenny. We had two Siamese and a Burmese cat - all now sadly gone. Such lovely company. Australia is now one step away from total lockdown. PM said all venues - restaurants, cafes, pubs, clubs are now all closed except for take-away. Interesting times. Take Care.

pretty kitty is getting plenty of attention for sure. This virus is making the world go crazy for sure to keep it from spreading. We are staying home a lot and when we need more groceries I will try ordering from our local store for delivery I don't know how it works as I have never done it as I am one that doesn't mind grocery shopping. I am having a hard time getting my husband to take this all seriously though he seems to think they are going over board on all the precautions. It is hard to make him realize he isn't an expert in everything in life!!

Great idea to stay close to home; we are sheltering in place except for going to get needed groceries--if we can find any!! Cases are spiraling here, too...very scarey..at our ages here especially. I am using my limited sewing time to cast my worries away--put on Big Band music and just have fun...a needed escape from the worrying times...

Take care of yourselves. I hope to see plenty of quilty progress with no clubs to attend.
Of course socal distancing doesn't count in blogland.

I’ve been self-isolating for a week and anticipate doing so indefinitely. My pantry is stocked and I have LOTS of projects and distractions, so it’s not a problem. Wyoming’s Governor, like many others, has closed all public gatherings, restaurants, bars, and non-essential businesses. I wish our President would take his office more seriously and make some definitive decisions. I’m embarrassed that he originally called the virus and pandemic a hoax. He doesn’t inspire confidence.

Gemma is a very helpful girl to have around the place. 🐈. The world is certainly an ever changing one at present. We had lots of weekend activities planned and our very first caravan rally was to be this weekend. Like you, we are happy to stay home and potter. My work is still open, but who knows how long for. Stay safe and keep cuddling Gemma

Looks like Gemma is going to enjoy the extra time with everyone. You are lucky to have had your flu jabs. Ours have not arrived yet.
