It's a new month, and a new number has been chosen for the monthly Chookshed Challenge. It is number four, and on my list that is to use a panel. I had a couple of panels tucked away, and decided to work on the horse panel.
We have just got back from a caravan weekend away, so all I've done so far is to retrieve the bag, check what was inside, and have a think about what I'll be doing and what other fabrics to add. I'm looking forward to starting this project this week. The panel was purchased several years ago to make a quilt for my younger grand-daughter, but I didn't use it and purchased a much bigger panel in the same design. Hopefully I can find a photo of Megan's finished quilt to show you when I get this one completed, for comparison.
And what did we get up to on our weekend away? We attended the Martinborough Fair, along with a million other people, it seemed. And enjoyed a New Zealand delicacy there, a whitebait fritter served with bread and butter, so delicious. A little pricy, but certainly worth every penny, after all, we don't get to eat this very often.

We enjoyed a BBQ meal on Saturday night, and a shared dessert too. It's amazing how many different tasty goodies are served up when everyone brings a dish to share. Strawberries and icecream, cheesecake, mini pavlovas, jelly, and chocolates galore. We certainly didn't go hungry.

We had lashings of heavy rain from the East last night and found one of our back tv room awning windows was leaking...;0000 We think that wasps, trying to build nests in the crack there, left debris--pieces of grass etc, and it has kept the window from completely closing!!
We will seal it up for now and have it replaced in Springtime--more $$$$!

glad the winds went down for you when it was time to go home - yes it can be nerve wracking pulling a camper behind you in the winds - we had a small motorhome and it would feel the winds too and always drove slower than usual when windy and sometimes not go all that far before we would stop for the day

That's a pretty horse panel. Can't wait to see what you decide on. That sounds like a nice caravan weekend, even if it was windy for some time. Is whitebait a fish? Your meal looks yummy, ...and all the potluck dessert!
Glad that your travels were safe. Wind can be amazingly powerful. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the little panel. I have several and haven't turned them into anything.

High winds can be very frightening when in a caravan. So glad you are home safe and you had a lovely weekend. Enjoy working on the gorgeous panel. Happy quilting.
Your horse panel is gorgeous and will become something great no matter what you choose to make of it.
I went to Martinborough when visiting last spring. Loved the vineyards and quaint little town. I wish we had known about the fritters.

I think I remember Meghan's quilt featuring a horse panel. You will do a wonderful job of this Jenny. I like this monthly nudge to get working on a project. You have such great times caravaning with those like minded folks too.
