Slow Sunday Stitching

It’s been a beautiful day here in my part of paradise.  So mild you could almost think it was Spring, instead of mid winter.  I’ve spent some time outside today doing a little knitting.

My knitting is coming along well

Then it was time to hand stitch my quilt binding down, something I always enjoy.  This is a cot size quilt, so didn’t take me too long.  And here at last, Under the Sea quilt is finished.  I started the stitchery blocks way back in 2010, so it was well overdue to become a finished quilt.

Under the Sea

Under the Sea was a free stitchery  Block of the Month sew-along, by Willowberry Designs.  I increased the size of each block, and certainly enjoyed stitching each one.  The whimsical designs are highlighted with fabric pens.  Once all the blocks were stitched, they all got packed away – goodness knows why!  But the pretty little quilt is now finished, and I’m keeping it for a future great-grandchild perhaps.

I’m so pleased this pretty little quilt has now been completed, as it certainly deserved to be.  It’s always a wonderful feeling to get another long winded UFO off the list!

I am so very happy you have been having good reports for your checkups, Jenny. I know you are a good patient. :) Like you, I'm thankful every day for our free healthcare. It should never be taken for granted.
Meanwhile, glad you showed an up close photo of your embroidery...so pretty. A great quilt for a child for sure. It's so good you have Gemma there to assist with quilting.
Winter is definitely soup time though I smile a little thinking of your winter. You do indeed live in paradise, Jenny.

What a sweet quilt, somebody is going to be so cozy all wrapped up in it. I like to think of my quilts as a way to hug the ones I love, especially when I'm not there.

Woo Hoo! You got if finished. Your final choice of quilting worked well. Isn’t it lovely to sit outside and knit or stitch. How much more do you have to do on it?

Oh yes! Your Under the Sea turned out beautifully! It's such a pretty design. Interesting that you used fabric pens to color yours; I used Derwent Coloursoft pencils. Don't we love how coloring the fabric gives so much nice dimension to the designs? I guess I'm saving my quilt for a great-grandchild someday too. Actually, I think it will have to be a great-grandDAUGHTHER. I had finished my Under the Seat to give to a grandchild, and when all of them were boys, it didn't seem to be the appropriate gift. I'll forever hope to have a baby girl in the family.
