Sew Wot Tuesday

Its great to be home again, and so nice to catch up with my Sew Wot friends again.  Heather got in touch to remind me that we were meeting at her home on Tuesday morning.  There were five of us there, and plenty to catch up on.

As always, Show and Tell was very inspiring.  Carol showed the bargain buy she made at one of the local OP (charity) Shops.  Two pair of brand new pillowcases with printed cross stitch designs, she will enjoy stitching these, she told us.

Sandra had been sewing up a storm, assembling blocks made by quilt club members into charity quilts.  My goodness, she had been busy!

As well, Sandra had put together a child’s quilt using focus fabric donated by Carol, to make this bright and happy little boys quilt top.

But that’s not all, Sandra then showed us a pretty little baby donation quilt, using 2.5in strips put together in a chain design.

Heather was next with a multitude of completed projects.  First up was a pretty pink baby quilt, followed by a plaid square in a square quilt.

Using shirts from her beloved brother who had passed away, Heather then created some wonderful memory items for the family.  Cushions, tiny teddies, shopping bags and key rings, all made with such love while reflecting on happy times with her brother and his family.  Heather also used pockets, front button bands, cuffs and the buttons from the shirts.  These will all be treasured, I'm sure.

And just look at this spread for morning tea, Heather really is the “hostess with the mostest”

We never go hungry!

In between catching up with news, show and tell, and morning tea, we all spent the morning knitting on our various projects.  Carol was knitting a little teddy, Sandra was making another of her gorgeous baby blankets, I was plodding away on my toddler jumper which had travelled the South Island with me, and both Heather and Jude were knitting socks.

And talking about socks, Heather then showed us two pair she had recently completed.

It was another lovely morning spent with the Sew Wot ladies.  Thanks to Heather for hosting us, and many thanks too for the green beans and grapes from her garden, much appreciated.
