Rolling the Dice Again–and Cookie Time

Monday (if we are not away in the caravan) is rolling the dice day, and it’s always exciting to see which number turns up.  This week it is number one, which is my neutral strings blocks, made but never used for “Roll, roll, Cotton boll”, a Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt from several years ago.  You may remember that I used some of these blocks to make a donation quilt in the last month or so.  As I’ve still got quite a few of these blocks remaining, I’ve left number one on my list so I can keep using them up.  This time, I’ve decided to put some teal blue sashing between the blocks.

But you know me – its impossible for me to sew without having everything pinned in place.  Guess I’ll never win any prizes for speedy sewing, but never mind, that’s the way I like to do things.  I think the blue sashing will brighten these blocks up nicely.

We’ve got a busy week, so today is the only spare sewing day this week.  I’ll have to see how I go today, hope to get a few rows assembled before I pack everything away and get on with the never ending dinner chores.

Before I go I must share the cookies I made several days ago.  They were made from frozen cookie dough, and the box had been hiding away in the freezer, so it was time for it to see the light of day.  I’ve never used this sort of product before,  generally make everything from scratch.

They were delicious, white chocolate and macadamia nuts.  If I can find some more of this cookie dough, I’ll definitely make them again.

I like the sashing, and frozen dough, I have a favourite recipe for choc.chip biscuits, and you make the basic mix, roll like a sausage and freeze it, rolled in baking paper. Let me know if your would like me to email the recipe.Bit chilly here, but somewhere down south, over 8 inches of snow, and frigid temps!!!

I think your sashing should work great. I normally make everything from scratch too but in recent years try to not bake too much - for two people it is just always too much, a box of cookie dough already in portions frozen for cookies sounds good - take out two or four and bake and you have the smell of homemade cookies and they taste better then coming out of a box.

The blue does look pretty with the blocks. How big will you be able to make it? Frozen cookie dough is something I’ve never used, but it sounds ideal when you want nice freshly baked biscuits and time is short.

Jenny, for some reason I can't add a comment on Romany Roaming, so for the moment sounds like you had a good day out and to let you know your cheese puffs sound yummy!

Pretty blue with those pretty blocks. Hubby would love those cookies. With the healthy food movement, some of these packaged things are very good and so tasty. Happy travels as always.
