I Love Camping

I've enjoyed the slow stitching on my current project from Stitcher’s Revolution Camping Adventures, the iron on transfer is called “I Love Camping”.  This will be the middle section of  a pair of place mats to use in our caravan.  Featuring a cup of coffee, trees in the forest and the full moon rising over the mountains, it was very enjoyable to stitch.

Then they were trimmed to size, and borders added which features a leafy print.  I’ve had a rummage through my batting offcuts and will be stitching together two small franken-battings to suit.  And with some backing fabric at the ready, these two small pieces will soon be pinned up ready for quilting.  I did contemplate hand quilting, but no, it will be a simple job to machine quilt these two place mats, I decided.

Gemma deserved a treat last night, so I put some of her little crunchies inside her mouse and called her over.  That was exciting, she could hardly wait to bat that little mouse around with her paw, and gobble up the treats as they fell out of the holes.

Your "I Love Camping" stitcheries make lovely placemats, Jenny. They are perfect for your camper. The little toy mouse with treats hidden inside is a great idea. The perfect toy to keep Gemma busy.

Very pretty embroidery! What a great idea for place mats. And isn't it fun to use up some batting scraps for frankenbatting? I love camping too, but I'm too old to sleep on the ground in a tent anymore.

What fun pieces to stitch, and a great way to make them useful. Your placemats turned out good! I'm glad you decided to machine-quilt them. Now, I always machine stitch place mats. One time, after I'd just sewn four new placemats, and we had a couple come over for dinner, the woman had no sooner sat down than she knocked over her glass of red wine. Boy, I learned a quick lesson! Don't spend too much time making placemats! Not that I think you or your husband will spill... :-)

That's such a fun design, and will be perfect placemats for your caravan! I like to use batting scraps for little projects like that, too. Gemma is such a pretty cat!

Those placemats turned out so well!! Gemma looks a bit confused;))) so funny...

Hope you are doing well We are in waiting mode for a big Noreaster coming up the coastline that is supposed to hit us after midnight tonight through tomorrow noon. I hate night storms--especially if the power goes off due to the expected high winds...not fun gearing up our generator at 2 a.m. but at least we have one!! Fingers crossed...hugs, Julierose

Enjoyed seeing your lineup in the last post Jenny; also love this new header. Lots of great stitching going on. I finally got some fabric with cups on it to force me to make place mats which I've been saying I would make for a couple of years now. Yikes. Enjoy your warmth!

That is a lovely little stitchery for your place mats . Looking good.

The placemats will be perfect for your van. Machine quilting will probably hold up to washing better, anyway. I love Gemma’s toy. Joey doesn’t seem to play with toys any more, so it would be wasted on him.
