Our beautiful Birman Gemma, like most cats, snoozes away during the day tucked up somewhere nice and comfy. If not in front of our big windows in a sunny spot, she could be found on the sofa, and she rather likes our bed. It’s all about comfort, isn't it. Here she is, on top of my winter cat quilt, with her head on a pussy cat cushion. She doesn’t know it, but the cushion has a photo of our previous Birman Muffy on the front, and was a 65th birthday gift from my penfriend Dianne from USA. And the friendship cat quilt was made to honour the memory of our earlier cat Misty, with many blocks stitched and donated by quilting friends.
Gemma nice and cosy with memories of cats who came before
A nice sunny day with light breezes was the ideal day to wash my cat quilt. Made with wool batting, it is nice and warm and I use it on the bed during the winter months. With the weather getting warmer, now is the time to ring the quilt changes, wash this one and put it away till next year. As well as cats on the front, the backing is a black and white cat print, with a kitty label.
Blowing in the breeze
The blocks in this quilt, as I remember, are from a pattern called House Cats. Originally the background was pale pink, but has faded over time, and the cats were made from a variety of greys. This was the first big quilt I sent out to be commercially quilted. Memories of Misty was completed way back in 2001.

They might leave our lives on earth, but always stay in our hearts. Love the photo of Gemma, with the cushion filled with another darling girl's memories.
it sounds like you have gotten a lot of years of use and love out of that quilt. I think I have seen the pattern for that quilt somewhere but not recently! Your cat is beautiful.
Lovely memories of you kitty. How funny Gemma loves it.
Wonderful memories of your previous fur babies.
Our 21 year old cat died over a year ago. So far we have decided not to get another one. We are afraid that we would not get one that was as lovely and loving as our Shania.
God bless.
A beautiful quilt in memory of Missy and it looks like Gemma love both the quilt and cushion
What a lovely way to remember your earlier kitties.
