This month the colour for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge is green. This fun challenge is run by Angela of Sew Scrappy. This week I made my usual four Bow Tie blocks and two more Asterisk blocks. It is fun gathering up the fabrics each month, I am trying to use up my small scraps without having to cut into larger pieces.
Green is the colour for March
This is the first time I have taken part in the RSC, and I am really enjoying it. So much so, that I have already decided on which pattern I will make next year.
We are continuing to enjoy warm Autumn weather, mostly sunshine, with just a little rain. Mustn’t complain about the rain, quite a large part of the country has been very dry over the summer, so any rain is a bonus, especially for the farmers.
I met up with a friend during the week for coffee and she kindly gave me some tasty passionfruit grown on her vine. They look rather strange, the skin goes wrinkly as they ripen, but they are so sweet and delicious.

Green, one of my favourite colours. And the passionfruit, when I was a child we had the largest vine, I could hide under it, and Dad would stop there on the way to the milking shed, each afternoon, as I found a LOT of neatly cut halves ( the handy pocket knife that I still have ) all emptied out. Now that fruit is like gold, so pricey. We are hoping to be able to grow a vine here, as the neighbour has one that is flourishing.
I'm glad I took part in the RSC19 challenge this year too - it is using up some of my scraps but I think I would need to do five or more times to use up this stash of mine.
Lovely green blocks Jenny..
Enjoy your passionfruit...
I've never eaten passion fruit or even seen it in the produce section.
What a nice selection of GREEN blocks for the RSC!!
RSC is rather fun, isn't it. I'm enjoying putting my few blocks together each month. Your two projects will look great. Yum! Nothing says summer like passionfruit.
The green blocks look lovely.
And the passion fruit look delicious. They are a favourite.
Your green blocks are looking lovely. So glad that you are able to use up those tiny bits. Hope you don't run out before your new block for next year.
Welcome to the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I think you’ll find it fun and addicting. I finished up a bow tie quilt last year from RSC blocks made over 2 years. And I do selvage blocks every year, too, (as do a couple others), so we’re glad to have another cohort, hehe. Anyway, your blocks are cute and I look forward to seeing more of your work!
Passionfruits are the most delicious of fruits. As a kid they used to be everywhere but these days it is difficult to buy them, and they are so expensive. Love both your green bow tie and asterix blocks. Such a fabulous way to us up your scraps. It looks as if you are having the best fun diving into your scrap pile.
Hi Jenny wonderful green blocks. They are so pretty what a fun way to use up your scraps xx
