Monday is Roll the Dice Day

So I did, and the dice landed on number one – my Animal ABC quilt.  Haven’t worked on that one for a while, our long caravan trip over the summer meant that only a little hand work got done.  So I’m going to start with gusto today, and see how the rest of the week evolves.  Remember this?

Top and pieced backing

I had finished the top, and pieced the backing from my left over animal prints.  The quilt is now pinned, all ready for me to start machine quilting, so that will keep me busy for a while.
And talking about busy, we have had a very busy weekend away, with the pair of us being part of the organising committee for a caravan weekend away.  Not our usual caravan club type of weekend, this was a get-together for the Leisure Line Owners Club, a caravan manufactured here in New Zealand.  Here’s me at the Registration Desk waiting for the attendees to arrive, and Robin and friends cooking hamburgers for Friday night’s meal.

It was a great weekend away, and we enjoyed a delicious catered meal on Saturday, followed by live music and dancing in the hall. The duo played all those lovely songs we remembered from our youth, so we sang along, tapped our toes in time to the music, and got up on the dancefloor.  Robin’s knees give him trouble, so his dancing is now limited, but we did manage a couple of dances.

glad you managed a couple dances - I love to dance but Mike really doesn't like to so I guess I gave up dancing years ago :(

Bravo to you & Robin for volunteering your time at the gathering. So few people want to take on those important roles.

Read your last UFO list Jenny. Yes but you are making steady progress on those you pull out it seems to me and getting lots finished.
It sounds like a great weekend for you two busy bees. I feel like a hermit in comparison.
I have many of the oldies on my play list and love it.

Love the way you roll the dice to get jobs finished! It really seems to work well for you. I linked in to your blog from another blog and have enjoyed following not only your sewing projects but your travels. In 2009 we spent 3 months in New Zealand mainly in the north island based in Napier but did have a camper van on the south island for 3 weeks so followed your trip with much enjoyment. We live on a narrow boat in the UK so live a nomadic life.

Wow, it must have been so fun collecting all those animal prints. Your caravan weekend sounds fun. Oldies music brings back so many memories. I’m always amazed at how music does that.

Thanks so much ladies, for all your nice comments. Judith Emery - I'm trying to track your blog down, with no luck, and your email comes up at a "Non-reply", so that is no help either. Could you send me your details please.

What a fun quilt this one is - it looks like the perfect way to start May :-) I imagine it would have been a challenge to find animals for all the letters - a fair amoun tof hunting? Do like the way you dealt with the undivisible number of letters by putting the Z at the bottom! Happy quilting :-)

I was lucky to find fabric for most of the letters, but had a couple of challenges, such as X. I checked with Mr Google and discovered an xray fish which I drew and stitched. It was quite fun finding what to do for a couple of animals.

Hi Jenny. I don't have a blog. When we started out 9 years ago I wasn't so savy with blogs but do follow a few. I now feel it's too late to start one! My email address is j.emery1@btinternet.com What is your home town?
