This week for RSC stitching I made three more little birds, this time in dark blue. In an effort not to strain my back I’ve been sitting at the sewing machine for 10 minutes only at a time. And trying hard to remember not to lean forward but sit up straight with my back hard up against the seat back, not easy after leaning forward into my machine for all these years. With the little birds done, it took just a short time stitching on their legs while sitting comfortably in my Lazy Boy chair.
Three blue birds
Then it was time for the new birds to mix and mingle with the other colourful members of the flock. It’s growing nicely.
Being mid-winter, the weather has been rather chilly so its been good to spend time inside as I have been pottering around. It’s taken a while, but Gemma has just decided she rather enjoys curling up on top of the “faux” polar bear throws on our recliner chairs. Her colour is almost blended in as she has a little snooze.
Nice and cozy

it sounds like you almost have to strap yourself to the seat back so you don't forget to stay straight! I imagine little by little you will be able to do more. Your cat is just so pretty
A good idea to limit your time on the machine. Sewing for any longer could cause pain and you will be more likely to forget to sit up nice and straight. Since my brother had spinal surgery a couple of years back I've been more careful about how I sit especially when using the machine or the computer. Gemma loves lovely and cosy for her nap. Love the little bird blocks, did you make them up or are they from a pattern?
Your little flock of birds is so dang cute, Jenny!!
I am trying to not lean forward either with my sciatica rearing its ugly head!! Especially hard at the sink in the kitchen I find!!
Hope you are feeling a bit better every day...hugs, Julierose
The birds are so charming!!
What a fun flock of blocks! They will make a cheerful quilt. Personally, I think sewing cabinets are too low for most people to sit comfortably without stooping. Can you adjust the height of your machine?
I love your little birds! So fun to see all the colors together. Just 10 minutes at the sewing machine at a time sounds like the way to do it.
Those birds are so cute!! It can't be easy sitting so upright to sew - do you find it difficult seeing the needle, etc. when you sit upright. Gemma looks quite comfy. Our temp. today is supposed to be 35C and just now at 10:45 am it is already 27 - gonna be a hot one. :)
Fun little birds, It's going to be a lovely quilt!
Glad you are feeling better. Your flock is growing and they are beautiful. Stay warm, relax and before you know it, you will be brand new. Have a fantastic week.
such cute birds! your flock is growing!
I love those little birds! That will be a sweet quilt. Speaking of sweet ... Gemma is adorable. What a snuggly little kitty!
Your flock is certainly growing, Jenny and they are as cute as buttons. That's a great idea to limit your time at the machine. I have tried to sit straight up to and it is not easy at all. Stay warm and happy quilting
Love your birds! Happy stitching!
What darling Dark BLUE birds to add to your collection, Jenny!
Nice to do a little machine sewing and get the blue birdies done….they look lovely with all the others…
Gemma does look very cosy on the chair…
Love the birds, they look so happy together. I am glad to know you were able to sit at the sewing machine and had some fun. Stay warm and health, Jenny.
have a wonderful week
Gemma looks very comfortable! Your colourful flock is full of fun personalities!
I’m glad you can manage a little machine sewing. The birds are looking very cheerful. Gemma does look rather settled.
The birds are just great. You have built up quite a collection.
I think we all need to curl up like Gemma at the moment with this cold spell!
