Give Thanks

I don't have any slow stitching to show at the moment so thought I’d share my Give Thanks cushion which I stitched a coupe of years ago.The words sum up what I've been feeling lately after my spinal surgery.

In Every Thing Give Thanks

I’m thankful that my spinal condition was diagnosed by MRI, the only way to find it, I was told.  If it hadn't been found I would have ended up in a wheelchair.

I’m thankful that here in New Zealand hospital care is free, and I’m thankful for all the wonderful medical care I received.

I’m thankful for all the phone calls, cards, messages, flowers, chocolates, visits,  and home baking I received, must admit I was rather overwhelmed by all the support coming my way.

I’m thankful to Robin and my family for being there with their love and support.

And I’m thankful to all the messages from you, blog readers from near and far, mostly strangers, although I have had the pleasure of meeting some of you over the years.  Bless you all.

Recovery will take a while, I’m told, but I’m sure I’ll get stronger and more mobile soon.

Your recovery is slow but I'm thankful you'll be mobile and traveling again someday. Sounds like a great time for handwork, happy stitching!

A beautifully stitched cushion, Jenny, with so many lovely thoughts of thankfulness and gratitude stitched throughout. How wonderful that your surgery was a success. A worrying time before the surgery, I would imagine. How lovely you have been cared for, both in a practical way and caring thoughts and messages to you. We are very fortunate, are we not, that both in New Zealand and here in Australia, we have an excellent health care system, something for which I am thankful every day. Take it easy, and please take care.

I love the cushion you made a couple years back but more than that I am glad you took time to link to Kathy's today even not feeling your best yet as you recover from surgery... I am glad you have found soooo much to be grateful for! I am glad the surgery is behind you and healing is in front of you... soon you will be back camping when the seasons allow! Enjoy your day and be patient with the healing process ... I am a retired RN here :D Kathi

Oh gosh, Jenny! I'm sorry you needed surgery, but I'm SO glad you're doing well... or at least have a positive attitude about all of it. I know it can be difficult to feel grateful when one is in pain, so bless you for being intentional with your thanks. No doubt many people have been concerned for you, and I'm glad to know that you're receiving assistance. Take care of yourself, and bless you!

you will get stronger every day - are you walking with a walker right now? I hope it isn't too hard to get around the house a little more each day while you recover

How wonderful that you are on the mend! You will be stitching slowly (and doing everything slowly for a while) before you know it!

Hospital care at Wellington is superb, and I am so thankful they found the problem early enough for the surgery to be a success. Time, friends, any help offered, and your inner self along with Robin will get there. The other day we went to a local store to load some free pallets for firewood, along came one of the staff, a tall strong man, " Would you like some help to get them onto the trailer" Yes please, years ago we could have managed so easily, not now, and any assistance offered is wonderful, and I have learnt also to ask!!!So much easier to give, so this morning baking is under way for Grandson to take back to Wellington and share with flatmates. We cannot always reciprocate to the person, but send it round in a circle to another.XXX from a warmer morning here.

So much to be thankful for. Like New Zealand and most other countries over the pond, Canada has free health care as well. There are things that could be better, but I like knowing that if something is seriously wrong I won't have to mortgage my home and give up all my savings to get help.

Slow and steady improvement is best.

God bless.

Oh my!I knew you were having issues, but being behind in blog reading, I didn’t realize you’d already had your surgery. Im so happy to hear that you’re home now and doing well. I love your plucky spirit and wish you a speedy and full recovery. And I hope Miss Gemma is doing her duty and administering Intensive Purr Therapy as needed!

I've been catching up with your posts. You have had a tough time! But it's good to know things were caught in time and surgery is done...the only way is up! Lovely cushion too. Take care!

Your cushion could have been made with this situation in mind. The sentiments are perfect. I’m glad you are continuing to slowly heal. At least being winter time, you won’t mind being at home in the nice warm house. You have been very blessed to have such loving and supportive people around you. Take care.
