Not quite a caravan trip, but the next best thing. I went to visit the caravan club who were away for the weekend at Mt Lees Reserve. On the way I stopped off at the very popular Lewis Farms to buy some strawberries. These are grown in huge tunnel houses so the growing season seems to last for ages. I bought myself a nice hot coffee too before I continued on my drive north.
Yummy strawberries from Lewis Farms
I arrived at Mt Lees Reserve in time for morning tea, just as well I remembered to pack my folding camping chair for the trip. Delicious Easter buns were passed around, yummy, and we sat outside in a circle enjoying the pleasant weather. It was good to catch up with everyone, it's been a while since I have seen them.

After morning tea I asked Owen if he might be able to change the clock in my car for me, now that daylight saving time has ended. He called up U Tube on his phone and listened carefully while a heavy accented man told him how to go about it, it wasn't easy but after a couple of tries Owen finally got it done. I thought it might be helpful if I could find the car manual book for him. But it was nowhere to be seen, although I did find a bundle of petrol vouchers tucked away that I didn't know were there, so that was a bonus. Mt Lees Reserve is a very pretty place with native forest and very popular with walkers, families and people exercising their dogs.
Lovely surroundings
Then we all drove to Feilding for lunch, to the very busy Rose Bowl Cafe, a place I hadn't been to before. Most of us ordered from the menu, and there was a huge range of cabinet food available too, plenty of choices to suit all tastes. I chose a bacon and avocado sandwhich, very tasty indeed.

I had to look up feijoas as I’ve not heard of them. The strawberries look really nice; they are in the stores here, but I haven’t bought any yet. I’m glad you enjoyed your outing!
So good to see you venture out in the car and meet up with the caravaners and daughter Nicky. You had a lovely time visiting and catching up.
Nice strawberries 🍓 and some NZ fruit came home with you.
Bet Gemma was pleased to see you.
What a lovely day out you had! Yummy food too. I had to look up feijoa fruit as I had never heard it before. From what I read it has a nice taste. Poor Gemma sure was happy when you got back home.
Sounds like a very pleasant outing. Nice to see your caravan club friends and Nicky too. Those strawberries look yummy! I’ve never heard of the other fruit.
I have never come across "feijoas" here in USA--they look like our pears a bit--are they tart in taste? I happen to like the tart tasting apples, plums etc.
Sounds like you had a wonderful reunion with the Caravaning troupes--and then a lovely visit with your daughter, too. What a nice day out...
Hugs, Julierose
Interesting to see that strawberries can be grown in a glasshouse, and so nice for you to catch up with others. That's quite a long trip .The bonus vouchers would be a great surprise.
Sounds like a lovely day out. Good to catch up with friends and your daughter.
I am so glad that you got to meet up with your caravan friends and spent some time catching up. That you also got to spend time with your daughter is a big plus. I will have to look up the feigoas to see what they are as we do not have those in Canada.
God bless.
Good that you could catch up with old friends...and family. Enjoy those strawberries - straight from a farm I am sure they are delicious...
I'm so happy that you took time out to meet up with your camping friends. I'm sure they were all very glad to see you and to see that you're well. Feijoas is something totally new to me. I'll have to keep an eye out if I ever see them in the market and try this exotic (to me) new fruit.
I'm glad you were able to meet up with old friends and chat and eat - that is nice. Also nice that it was somewhere your daughter could meet up for a visit as well - sounds like a good day (I still haven't figured out how the time is set on my car and we have had it 2 years, Mike has it figured out I need to have him show me next time)
I am so glad you were able to get out and meet up with the caravan and your daughter. It sounds like a lovely day. The strawberries look so yummy. Enjoy the feijoas and have a wonderful day. Hugs.
Oh, I'm sure happy to hear you're getting out and about, and especially that you could renew your connection to caravanning friends! I'm also sure they were glad to see you and include you in their social activities. Even better that your daughter could join you for a while, and you could exchange fruit.
Ow lovely for you to spend time with your caravan club friends and Nicky as well. Those strawberries look luscious. We have two feijoa shrubs, but not much fruit yet, as they are only a couple of years old.
What a lovely way to spend your day.
