Horse Quilt Number Two

After several days sitting at the sewing machine, I’m pleased to say that Horse Quilt No2 is now a   finished top.  The final two rows of blocks were added, then the plain black borders were cut, measured, pinned and stitched on.  I laid it on top of our bed, to see how it looked.

How about a photo out on the clothesline?  There was just a touch of gentle rain falling, but I didn't think the horses would mind, as they were galloping through the river!

I’m pleased with how it all came together, and I do hope grand-daughter Megan likes it, when she finally receives it.  Gemma has been helping too, keeping my seat warm by the sewing machine while I’ve been doing other things.

The gentle rain has gone, and we are sweltering!  Seems that all those extra high temperatures that Australia was melting under have flown across the Tasman Sea to spend time here in New Zealand.  Our home town of Levin has been experiencing temps in the early 30s, unheard of here.  Its rather like being away on a tropical holiday without leaving home.  I’m doubly hot as I’m slaving away over a hot stove this afternoon, doing some baking.  We are off on another caravan adventure tomorrow for several days and I like to have some  things  prepared to take away.   In case you are wondering, I’ve made a quiche, a chocolate slice, and prepared some potato salad.

For some reason the quilt photos are not visible, but I adore the photo of Gemma curled up on your sewing chair. Safe travel on your getaway.

We have been having a spot of bother with photos as I use Live Writer to compose the blog, and Blogger have made a few changes recently, which meant it wouldnt recognise the photo source. After Robin spent a lot of time trying to find a solution, (he is the IT whizz in this household) hopefully we have it right. Please let me know if the photos disappear again, thanks.

Love the horse quilt it's turned out brilliantly. This time 10 years ago we were getting ready for our three month trip to New Zealand. We left Wales mid February with temperatures of -7 and arrived in Auckland to 24° the next day in Napier it was 31°! At the moment here in Stourport on Severn, England it's down to -3°,the water outside our boat is frozen but we're tucked up warm inside with our multi-fuel stove to keep us warm. Have a lovely time away, look forward to reading your next post to hear all about it. Judith nb Serena

Quiche is in the air! I made one too. They are nice cold with salads.
The horse quilt looks great, I'm sure it will be loved.
We're not quite so warm as you down here on the coast, but our deck did hit 30 degrees yesterday. I have to say, I'm loving it.

I'm sure Megan will love her quilt. It is stunning. Are you having it long arm quilted? Enjoy your time away in the van and I hope you don't melt.
