Spring has arrived and it was time to change the small wall hanging just inside the front door. Down came Welcome to Winter and up went Hello Spring. I hand stitched the pretty floral design and finished it up with machine quilting in 2022.
Spring has arrived
Our Spring weather is often temperamental and we have had heavy wind and rain. The wind blew, blew, blew, creating a carpet of yellow kowhai blossoms scattered across the lawn in the back yard. Our native tuis love the kowhai nectar and have been feeding off the tree, in between busily chasing any rival birds away from the bounty. This tree came with us as a little seedling when we moved here from Upper Hutt back in 2013 and has grown and matured into such a lovely tree.
Kowhai blossoms
So what have I been up to lately? I have a knitting finish, and no, not socks this time. Made with Op Shop (thrift store) yarn too pretty to leave behind, I'm pleased with how it turned out. This will probably be donated, but I'll keep it for a while, just in case. Not that I've heard of any new arrivals, but you never know.
And it's been binding time over the last few evenings too, I'm diligently stitching down the binding on the butterfly quilt. This is one of three I want to make for a special family, more about that later.

Spring is such a lovely time of year. I always look forward to it after a long grey winter. Your banner is so pretty and cheerful. I have a couple clocks that are hard to set and agree the ones that set themselves are wonderful.
Happy Spring Sweet Friend!

It's safe to say that I've never hung a 'Welcome to Winter' sign here at my place, Jenny. =) Spring is blossoming here, too. Everything is so pretty. That little jumper is sweet in those gorgeous shades. NZ is a week ahead of us re Daylight Savings. We change our clocks forward next week.
What a sweet knitted sweater Jenny. Hmm, the clocks are Tony's job.
The joys of daylight saving! We have to deal with that next weekend. I am like you when it comes to the car clock. I really don't care and leave until it all reverts to normal.
That is a gorgeous little jumper. Lovely colours in it.
Spring blossoms are such a joy and our crabapple tree is looking lovely at the moment. I do like the little jumper. Very cute colours. We go to daylight saving next weekend. Most of the clocks are easy to change, but the one in the kitchen is Mick’s job, as is the car.
The flowering tree is gorgeous! I've never heard of that kind. Your little knit sweater is so sweet. I am the clock setter around here for all the digital things. When I can't figure it out, I do a google lense search and watch a youtube video.
We will be changing our clocks next Sunday
Our car clocks require an engineer to change them so they often just get left. They tell us the correct time for six months of the year! Sometimes, the mechanic will change them when the car is in for service. What a cute sweater! Hand stitching the binding down is one of my favourite tasks! What a beautiful flower on your tree. I want to go to New Zealand some day.
Lovely cheery Spring hanging you've put out, Jenny...and really pretty little
jumper you knitted...
Changing clocks has been my job here;))) some of them can be so tricky--good idea to just remove that battery and replace it on the correct time--why not? Hugs, Julierose
I do love spring. At least your car clock will be right for 6 months of the year!! Cute little jumper too.
I hear you about car clocks!!!
You are such a talented crafter.
I truly enjoy seeing posts about spring, knowing we'll get through winter, and come out on the other side. It's so sad taking apart the garden.
Happy Spring to you! Those are beautiful blossoms you show there - I had to look up that bird as it was unfamiliar to me - he is beautiful. Sweet sweater finish, too! Glad you managed all the clocks. We struggle remembering how to change the ones in the cars, too!
What a beautiful spring flower! I hate time changes, it takes me weeks to adjust. I wish the powers that be would just pick one and stick with it.
We have yet to change our clocks back. I hate when it gets dark before dinner time. Thankfully my car is new enough that the clock changes automatically. We only have a few in the house that need to be adjusted. That little jumper is adorable. I love the yarn that you used. I look forward to the story to accompany the butterfly quilt. Enjoy your stitching.
if you have a booklet of information on your car - usually kept in what we call the "glove box" although no one uses it for gloves there will be a page that will tell you how to change the clock in the car - that is something I always have to get out to remind myself how to do. That sweater is really nice I like the colors.
I do the same with my car's clock.
We'll be 'falling back" to Standard time on Nov 2nd.
Hello Spring is adorable. Autumn is hanging by our door. We have a little over a month before we have to change the clocks. We don’t have many that need it but there are 3 wall clocks and the ones in the automobiles. Hope I can remember how to do the car ones.
Your Spring wall hanging is lovely.
God bless.
